We have recently implemented a big change to our 5G network infrastructure in Gauteng to provide a more stable connection.
As a result, there might be a few checks and settings changes to make to the router to ensure it gives you the best possible 5G experience.
To get started, log in to the router interface:
- Connect your phone or laptop to the router WiFi. You wont need internet connectivity to do this, just ensure the router is switched on and connected to your device.
- Open up your web browser
- Input this IP number into the URL search bar. IP number: 192.168.8.1
- Log in using your credentials.
- If its your first time logging in, use:
- username = admin
- password = admin
- If you have logged in before but you forgot your password, you would have to do a factory reset to the router. To do this:
- Underneath the router, press the RTS button for about 10 seconds, with a small pin
- Once reset, all lights should turn green and login credentials will be set back to default.
- If its your first time logging in, use:
Step 1: Check if the router has the latest software:
- On the landing page, please click on 'Advanced'
- Once the page has loaded, click on 'System' to view the device information.
- If the device name is:
- H112 - 370 , the latest software version should be 10.0.5.11(H351SP2C1522)
- H112 - 372 , the latest software version should be 10.0.5.1(H351SP2C1522)
- If the router is on any other software version, please click on "Updates" on the left panel and 'Check for Updates' at the bottom of the page.
- Install the latest update and move on to step 2.
- Note that this may take some time to install. If the operation repeatedly times out, please contact us so we can assist with other options.
Step 2: Make sure the network mode is set to AUTO
- On the landing page, please click on 'Network Settings' and make sure you switch on 'Auto select network'.
- Select 'Mobile network searching' on the left panel, and select 'Network mode' = Auto or (NSA + SA) and click save. If you dont see these options, please contact us to assist further.
Step 3: Now that your router is ready for the 5G network, you'll need to position it in the best location for the strongest signal.
- Click on 'Home' on the top panel
- Once the page loads, click on 'System'.
- Under Device information, view your signal readings
- Please move the device around the premises while monitoring the signal readings.
- The RSRP should be as close as possible to the range: -65 to -75. The closer the better.
- The SINR should be a positive dB value. The higher, the better
If you've done all the steps above and your signal is still poor, please contact us to arrange for a field service agent to come out and assist. If you have received an SMS from us directing you to this link, please reply on that SMS and we will call you back shortly
